Purse Essentials: Things I Have In My Purse At All Times
It’s time for some purse talk. I haven’t done a “What’s In My Bag” video on my YouTube channel for a long time, but I used to love watching those! I’ve narrowed things down in recent years and I’m one of those crazy people that actually changes and cleans out my purse on a monthly or sometimes even weekly basis. I’ve recently found (within the last two years) a bag that works for me. At first, I was going to use it as a work bag, and then realized working from home made it completely unnecessary. So, it changed to a handbag I use everyday as one of my main purses.
I currently use a Michael Kors handbag. It’s leather, super durable and roomy to hold my planner when I need it to. Ordinarily, if I’m simply running errands to the store I will only have the things listed down below. BUT! These are essential to me, and I wouldn't leave my house without them! Keep reading to see what I keep in my bag at all times!
Wallet. Ok wow. So this is what most people have in their bags. I have another Michael Kors product, currently a phone wallet which has never held my phone. I use the phone pocket for extra cards that I find necessary to still hold with me. I have all my cards, reference cards, gift cards and some cash inside.
Keys. Yes. How else would I drive my jeep?
Wheel Nut Lock Key. This is something I’ve only owned since driving a wrangler and losing my back tire to some nut job who apparently needed my spare tire more than I did. However, I realize that more people are putting locks on their wheel nuts than ever before. Apparently tires are hot commodities. Who knew? In order to change a tire, get your tires torqued or anything, you need to have your key on you at all times. Remember, forget this at home and get a flat, you’re basically screwed.
Pack of Gum. This is not only necessary for fresh breath my friends. In my case, I have kids who constantly ask for gum, so I make sure to have a “kid friendly” pack on me at all times. (aka: not the minty or “spicy” kind). I prefer mint gums for fresh breath, but also, if I forget my water at home, a piece of gum will get the saliva flowing and stave off the requirement for water until you get where you’re going.
Kleenex. I don’t really believe in Kleenex. LOL. I would use tissue paper if I were at home, but since a roll fits somewhat awkwardly in my purse, I settle for small travel packs of Kleenex I can easily carry in my small zipper compartment of my bag. (It’s just a gimmick my friends, made to make you spend your hard earned dollars on something completely unnecessary).
Travel sized wet wipes. I have kids - need I say more? Sticky hands are sticky hands whether you have leather seats or not.
Reusable roll-up or fold-up bags: Since our province has pretty much out-lawed plastic bags, it has been necessary to keep these on hand at all times. Plus, whenever I get to the store, I always forget that I have at least a million reusable bags in my jeep but I keep forgetting them. Sometimes I just put the groceries in my cart left unpacked, and then pack my groceries myself once I get back to my vehicle.
Iphone: Since portable phones, I’m terrified of breaking down on the road somewhere and not able to call for help. So this comes with me ALL THE TIME!
Hand Lotion: I usually carry a non-invasive smelling mini lotion on me. Here where I live, the weather is usually always dry, and my hands are always dry and chapped. So, lotion comes in pretty handy when I’m on the go.
Lip Chap: I detest the “conventional” lip chap - I always use the Blue Blistex tube, again, because it is super dry where I live, and the medicated component of this product makes my lips feel better.
Other seasonal items I carry in my purse:
11. Gloves or mittens: I have a pair in my vehicle, a pair at home and a pair in my purse.
12. My Planner: Since I work from home, my planner isn’t something I always bring with me. (Otherwise my purse straps would probably break!) But, when I’m travelling for a few days or going to an appointment, I bring it to ensure I can reference it or schedule new appointments if necessary.
I have found all of these things to be necessary components to carry around with me in my bag. This list will be different for everyone, according to your needs and where your travels take you.
Thanks for reading!
