Creating a Junior Half Letter Business Planner
So you all know by now that I’m usually back and forth when it comes to certain planner things. One of them has been where to keep my business planning needs. I used to keep everything in my Franklin planner until I realized there just wasn't enough room. So then I would keep a separate Franklin binder for it and it was just so much. It was bulky and heavy to lug around two planner binders all the time.
Once I became an affiliate with Janes Agenda, I realized that I could really have the best of both worlds. Besides for beautiful dashboards and inserts that you can get from Janes Agenda, they offer a size called junior discbound, (or, half letter). What I like about this is I usually order my subscription box in unpunched half letter. (You’ll find, except at Franklin Planner themselves that it’s hard to find half letter inserts punched to fit Franklin binders). You usually have to buy products in half letter unpunched, and then invest in your own classic sized punch.
So when I realized that I needed a separate planner for my business needs, I decided to go back to discs. Prior to Janes Agenda, the only company I thought did discbound was Happy Planner. Now I realize how wrong I was. I have a love-hate relationship with disc binding. I love it because the system is so transient in that you can take things in and out of your planner with ease, even easier than a ring binder because there are no rings that you have to open and close each time. Punching is pretty straight forward if you have a happy planner punch (readily accessible at your nearest Michaels), and there are many sizes to choose from. The only reason I stopped using it because it didn’t seem as classic as a Franklin binder, and I started to love Franklin Planner much more.
The only discbound planner sizes that I had previously used were Happy Planner Classic Size and mini size. When I realized I could create a discbound planner for half-letter size, I was in heaven. It meant that I could continue buying half letter unpunched and then choose to use it either in my Franklin Classic, or my discbound planner. (I just had to punch it myself).
So then was born my half-letter sized (or junior) discbound planner. I can’t really call it a Janes Agenda planner as I have various inserts from many different companies in it for my business needs. The cover is from Janes Agenda, and in 2024, I’ll be using new monthly and weekly inserts from Janes as well. The size in enjoyable in and of itself; it seems just big enough to write comfortably, and it’s not too big, and makes it easier to carry around. It does need eight discs to bind it together.
If you are using the Janes Agenda system, or have the monthly subscription kit, it’s so nice because you can change up your cover every month if you want. This gives a new look to your planner (for those of us who get bored easily!), without actually having to change the guts of your planner all the time.
Thank you so much for checking out today’s blog, and I''ll see ya’ll next week!
