My Summer Fave’s

Hey guys! Welcome back to this summer edition of my favorite things. I wanted to share some of the things I enjoy in summer - whether it’s things I like to eat, do, or places I like to go. This year, I have been inside a lot for a number of reasons.

1. I have a small daughter and she can’t be out in the sunshine too long when it’s really hot, even with sunscreen.

2. I have my biz that I need to work on. I am trying to relax into a Monday - Friday role, but all you entrepreneurs out there know that is extremely hard to do when you first start a business.

3. We have had record breaking temperature’s this year - a whole week of +35 degree Celsius weather. Apparently this last happened in 1961. Crazy, right?

4. We are in he midst of an “Open for Summer” plan since this crazy last year and a half. However, even though the government has given the go-ahead, a lot of businesses are still playing it safe and not opening to full capacity, so we stay away from most stores and shop on Amazon instead.

In saying all that, get ready for some of my favorite things that I have enjoyed doing this summer!

  1. Laying on my lawn chair in my backyard and reading

For Mother’s Day, my husband got me a lay-down-all-the-way lawn chair, which I’ve wanted for a LONG time. I could never tan my back until now. So, usually when my daughter is asleep, when the temperature is bearable, I’ll go outside, tan and read my book.

  2. Books

Currently, I’m switching between 2 series: The All Souls Trilogy which includes:

    A Discovery of Witches

    Shadow of Night

    The Book of Life

This trilogy is by Deborah Harkness. It was really hard for me to first get into, but eventually did by the end of the first book. I’m not a feminist per se, but I found it hard to tolerate the attitude of the supporting character with his male-dominant attitude.

The second series I’ve REALLY been enjoying is the Throne of Glass Series. There are 8

books in total, and I couldn’t put the first one down. These are:

  • The Assassin’s Blade (Prequel)

  • Throne of Glass

  • Crown of Midnight

  • Heir of Fire

  • Queen of Shadows

  • Empire of Storms

  • Tower of Dawn

  • Kingdom of Ash

I also still am in the middle of the Outlander series, about to start Book 6 , ‘A Breath of Snow and Ashes’, but those books are LONG, and will probably take me at least another year to get through.

3. Collecting Journals

So as you may know, I LOVE journals. I have been using and collecting them since before I was ten years old. I write in one every day, at least twice a day. Just the simple act of writing calms my soul and makes me feel good. (Although my hand doesn't when I’m done!)

I have come across some new journals by the Lang Company that are SO, SO pretty, and I have been looking for journals that are more individual and not as easily duplicated if that makes sense.

4. Browsing the Franklin Covey Planner Website

I have given this a lot of thought, but I am changing up my planner system for 2022. Since starting my planner channel, I have used different planners to meet by personal and business goals. I’ve used an Erin Condren Life Planner, TONS of Happy Planners, and my bullet journal, of course. I love using stickers in my planners and decorating them to make them pretty. Lately, I find myself needing a daily page (I do use my bullet journal for this currently). I would like to have a planner for my functional planner needs, and then use my bullet journal for an artistic outlet.

This is why I have decided to use a Franklin Planner. The binders are just so elegant and chic and the system is still interchangeable, since I’ll be using the 7-ring binder system. Any inserts you purchase separately (from sights other than Franklin Covey) can be printed to size. (i.e. I had some List Lab Sheets I wanted to use in my new system, and this can easily be done within the printer settings on my computer). I LOVE the Beautiful Life Collection by Teresa Collins and Franklin Covey.

Stay tuned for product hauls and a Franklin Planner Organization video coming before the new year!

5. Large Coffee Mugs from Walmart

This sounds so random, but I had to mention its because I just went and got 3 more. I love my coffee. The first cup in glorious and the second cup is so-so, and then I can’t drink any more without feeling sick. However, these bug cups hold 18 ounces plus cream, so they are SUPER big. I had 2 of them, and one just recently started cracking, hence the reason for more. I figured if I had at least 3, it would allow me to rotate them between cleans. I also love my Tetley Strawberry Tea (it has been my favorite black tea since I was 10). Unfortunately, Safeway stopped selling it when Sobeys bought them out, but you can still find it on Amazon. Yay!!

6. Mac Candy Yum-Yum & Vince Camuto Bella Parfums

Ok, so if you all know me, I am a BIG lover of perfumes. Speaking of, I realized I should probably link my one and only MASSIVE perfume collection video to my blog, so you guys can see which ones are my very favourites. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCj2TnymFlDjnhClNAwx5Stg

These two perfumes I have been loving for this summer. In the video above, you will hear me quite often say whether a perfume is a seasonal perfume or not. The scent you wear really does depend on the time of year! Mac Candy Yum Yum smells like Cotton Candy Guava and Bella smells like underripe fresh nectarines. They are both so delicious and I wear them day and night!

That’s it for this blog! Take care of yourselves and we’ll see you again next week!

xoxo SAN
