Solitude Vs. Meditation
I was reading Digital Minimalism by Cal Newport for the Janes Agenda Masterplan course, and I noticed he spoke about solitude. The dictionary explains solitude as the state of being alone, but in the book, Cal Newport says that solitude is time spent alone with your thoughts. Now meditation on the other hand, isn’t as simple to explain as it’s more of a personal experience. Again, the dictionary explains it as a practice of clearing your mind and/or focusing using a combination of mental and physical techniques. This is varied... Read more...
My Spiritual Journey
It seems like by the time you get to mid-age, or maybe around the time you’ve had children, you finally determine what you want for yourself out of life. That’s not always true, but I feel like you should really know yourself by now. For me, I’ve embarked on a healing and spiritual journey and I’m still in the process of learning and growing and knowing myself. I’ve stumbled across something called Human Design, and I can see how it relates to spirituality and the shadow self. I’m learning how... Read more...
Things You Might Want To Keep On Your Altar
The last blog I wrote on an altar, was about creating one. You can read that here. You might want to create an altar, but have no idea of what to include. Today, we’ll talk about some of those objects that you could use for your altar. Gems Stones, Minerals, Rocks: Stones and rocks are one of the most popular things to have on an altar. Different gemstones, minerals or rocks are used for different purposes. Stones can also be related to the chakra. For example, regular quartz can be... Read more...
Tarot Cards as a Divination Tool
Tarot cards…these are seen by many people as either a game, a tool of the Devil or, if you’re actually spiritual, they can be a useful tool for divination. What is divination, really? It is defined as seeking knowledge of the unknown (or future) by supernatural means. So what does supernatural mean? This describes anything that cannot be explained by the laws of nature. An example of this is our intuition. What gives us that gut feeling? While science explains that by saying we use a combination of past experiences... Read more...
Don’t Give Away Your Power: The Story Of An Empath
I don’t really know when I discovered I was an empath, but it wasn’t until fairly recently that I started learning more about it. By no means am I an expert; I only know what I’ve personally experienced and I can tell you how it feels, and how my energy is affected. So as you know, everyone has (and creates energy). Our bodies give off heat (which is a form of energy). Our brains are constantly working (even when we’re sleeping), which means millions of neurons are constantly at work... Read more...
As Above, So Below
What is reality? It is defined as the state of things as they actually exist, or, existence itself. The problem with this definition is that it is defined in terms of perception. Take time for example - it is defined as the continued (irreversible) sequence of existence. Time is only of value to people who exist in the present, and is of no consequence to animals, inanimate objects (other than their states of being) and people who are no longer alive. Therefore, you could say that we have a perception... Read more...
Creating An Altar
Hi there friends! Today, we’re going to dive into the spiritual realm (so to speak) and talk about how to create an altar. I can’t really give you a list of what you should have. I think that your altar should be personal, meaningful and intentional to you. Only you can determine what needs to be in place for this very personal project. First of all, what is an altar? The official definition (not to be confused with alter which means to ‘make different’), is, an elevated place or structure... Read more...
How I Meditate
I am new to meditation, and just as it is to start a new habit or routine, I’m finding it hard to dedicate time daily or even weekly for meditation. However, I have done a bit of research before I began my practice (as erratic as it is). Let’s start with the eight types of meditation and the purpose behind it. My purpose for medication is for focus, relaxation, manifestation and peace. Sometimes I harness my inner energy from various sources and envision I have my power in the palm... Read more...
My Thoughts On the Differences Between Religion and Spirituality
I always used to think that religion involved believing in some type of god, and spirituality was everything else, like a “catch-all”, if you will. A few months ago, I was watching a YouTube channel called “Edge of Nightfall”. This YouTube creator practices witchcraft. Remember, practicing witchcraft is completely different than Wiccan, the witchcraft religion which is based on religious beliefs. You may practice witchcraft and not have a religion at all. He was saying in this particular video that the difference between religion and spirituality is this: if you... Read more...
The Mystery of Magical Repeating Numbers
Hello friends! Welcome! Today, I thought I would discuss something that has been happening to me since a very young age. I guess the first time it happened was when I was given my very own digital alarm clock. I think I was in Grade 5, and I was so proud to set the time myself and wake up to my own alarm. (Even though I detested getting up early as most pre-teens and teens do.) I would stay up pretty late for a then preteen. I loved to read,... Read more...
Exploring My Spirituality
Hey guys! Today, we’ re talking about spirituality and how I am getting to know myself better as I partake on this new journey. I usually discuss topics related to journaling and planning. Since most of my time revolves around that, and taking care of my kids, you can imagine there is not a lot of time remaining in the day for other things. In saying that, I am just starting out on this journey and just beginning to explore the options available. My family is not religious, although my... Read more...
