Start Thinking About Your 2023 Goals NOW!

It’s time, my friends! Let’s talk 2023 goal setting. I use a specific goal setting planner each year - I have been using the Cultivate What Matters Powersheets Goal Planner for the past three years. Despite this, you do not need a goal planner to think about your life and what you want to do with it. Let’s be honest: setting goals is basically a detailed plan for what you want your future to look like. Sure, there are those of us who don’t give a damn, maybe you’re working month to month and don’t see a foreseeable change in the future. This is where you’re wrong. The only person that can make any change for you, is you. You need to want something more than you want to lay on the couch each night soaking up all the late night talk shows or the reality tv.

It all starts with thinking and journaling. It’s easy to think about stuff you might want to buy, or stuff you might want to do. It’s definitely more concrete when you write it down, and then if you do forget about it, you can read it later.

My personal plan for this year is to start in my regular day-to-day journal, writing down thoughts about things I might want to accomplish next year. A lot of my inspiration comes from things I already have going on in my life. For instance, I have kids (soon to be three!), my own business and I’m always thinking about how I can make our lives better. I do this by thinking of fun things we could do, trips we could take, new things I could attempt to tackle in my business. Finances are always a big one; either we’re looking to make more money, or decrease the amount we owe.

You could always get inspiration from articles that you read, (reading or even watching t.v. or movies always can lead to new ideas), or you could start browsing magazines to see new and interesting things. You’ll never know what might spark a new idea until you start looking. Even talking about your life goals with your partner, a family member or a friend might spark some goal ideas.

Whatever these ideas are, the most important thing to do is jot them down. Even if it makes no sense, or no financial sense, there are always little things that you can do to get closer to that goal if it’s truly something you want. If you start thinking about your goals early enough, you will give yourself plenty of time to have it roll around in your brain. Does that ever happen to you? You get caught on a certain idea and then pretty soon, that’s all you can think about it until you make it happen.

So, start with writing down your ideas; it can be a big sheet with brainstorm bubbles all over it. In the weeks to come, you can add to it, write down mini steps to the bigger goals, or you can cross off things that just don’t make sense to you.

When you actually go to create your goals, I would suggest checking out my other blog on Goal Planning, https://sandradahl.ca/goal-setting/https/sandradahlca/blog-page-url/https/sandradahlca/blog-page-. This blog will help you in getting more detailed in goal setting so your goals are less vague and easier to achieve.

Thank you so much for reading and I can’t wait to see you next week!

❤️ Sandra
