Hello! I thought I would share what oracle and tarot cards I use because I don't think I have ever talked about them. I will leave links to share where they were purchased when possible, and of course, I'll share all the pictures!
Let's start with my very first tarot deck. These were purchased off of Amazon.ca, when I started learning about divination. Divination is being able to find insight about a person's past, present or future through mystical means (such as oracle or tarot cards). A large part of the ability to do this comes from intention and intuition.

This deck was my very first deck. As I didn't know what to expect, I was a little disappointed but at the time, I was honestly just trying to find something as cheap as possible.
After doing lots of research, this deck seemed to be the closest to the Rider-Waite-Smith desks as I could find, and the description said beginner-user friendly, so that's when I went ahead. For some reason, I thought the cards would be oversized so I think my disappointment came when I found out they were still the same size as a deck of regular playing cards.
Although my newest deck is a bit bigger than these ones, it wasn't until recently that I realized it's mostly oracle cards that are oversized. (Although I'm sure you can find tarot cards in different sizes too).
This deck is my most used deck - I'm pretty sure I used it for years before I purchased a new one. That leads us to...

These cards are what I currently use. Yes, I only have two tarot decks. First, I don't want to be one of those people that have a million decks and only use each of them once in awhile. I really have no place to store that many decks. Also, I feel like once you've seen one deck, all the other ones are exactly the same.
When I first got this one, I really didn't like it. Compared to my first deck, I couldn't differentiate the colours that well, and the cards were so slippery. Over time and with use, they start to get that worn in look. (Some people love this and some people hate it). It also ties into my minimalism effort - I really only want to replace something if it literally wears out or gets wrecked; in those cases, it's out with the old and in with the new - one item gets replaced for another.
As it is, this deck has become special to me because I found this adorable little box from Dragonspace in Vancouver and these cards are a perfect fit in size and the colour matches perfectly! (Note: for some reason, the Dragonspace web page appears to be down so the link goes to the Facebook page).
Next, we'll talk about Oracle Cards. So Oracle cards are non-structured and there can be any number of cards in a deck. They are used for reflection, meditation and reflection. My problem with Oracle cards is that I love the artwork! I look for decks that are very different from each other, and something that offers something to think about when I practice divination or reflection.
My first deck is one of my favourites! The artwork is spectacular, and I purchased this one off of Amazon as well.
This deck is called the Witches' Wisdom Oracle Cards. These were a favourite of mine for a long time before I thought about buying new ones. That is, until I learned that Oracle cards weren't like tarot cards at all - each deck has new and different things to offer. That's why it's so much fun to explore new decks - not only for the art work, but also to see what new wisdom is inside!

The next deck I purchased from Amazon as well, but I was looking for something a bit different. I also was willing to invest a bit more money this time. Keep in mind though, that more money doesn't always mean better quality (especially on Amazon with the changing prices). * Read more below on what to look for!

So the artwork of this deck is also out of this world. I'm not going to lie - the rainbow pattern is probably what sold me. However, It was also the zodiac aspect and the planetary artwork that really intrigued me.
I did find it hard to use these cards though. Generally, every deck comes with a guidebook to tell you how to read the cards. (All of the ones I've purchased so far have physical books, but I believe some also come with online resources). This one has a book, but a lot of what was written didn't make sense to me. Some of it did - the call to action and the call to challenge are actually really good reflection or journaling prompts.
When I was back in Vancouver, I went back to Dragonspace (because that's my favourite store) and found a new deck of oracle cards!

Besides for the Witches' Wisdom Oracle deck, these contain my all time favourite artwork. So of course...unicorns - need I say more? Unicorns were my favourite thing growing up, and today I would still like to believe in their beautiful whimsy. I used to dream I would ride away into the sunset on a unicorn and live happily ever after. My room contained pictures (Anne Stokes of course!) and ornaments and statues of unicorns. Even today, I get the unicorn calendar every single year.
I was, and still am very satisfied with these oracle cards. They still allow creative space for journaling prompts and reflection, as well as divination for past, present and future. I continue to use these almost every week.

These are my very last oracle card purchase. Although I did find these on Amazon, I purchased my deck from a random store in West Edmonton Mall earlier this year. It was called Beck Antiques & Jewellery and my kids and I found it completely by accident. (Fun Fact: They have the Annabelle doll that looks like the one from the movies, but is actually a replica that was used in the documentary about the movies). It's in a locked case - just like in the movies.
So I picked up this deck from the store, partly because I was afraid of missing out. Both my kids had picked something out and I wanted to have a souvenir also. Although when I opened up this deck, I was disappointed because it had a cardboard insert and there are a lot less card in the deck than one would think.
However, the artwork is on point - I just haven't spent as much time with these cards to develop the same love I have for my others decks. It might have been the little fox sitting in the rainbow that got me with this one. The fun thing about this deck is each card gives you a project. So in my use of the cards, I could base a weekly project off of whatever oracle card I unearth.

* Now...to impart a bit of wisdom:
- It's fun to explore. If you are a beginner at divination, pick out a few cheaper decks and play.
- USE YOUR INTUITION! This goes for how you use the cards, what you do with the information and also which decks you buy. Remember, you can't go wrong! Anything that feels right to you is the way you should go. Listen to your gut - it won't steer you wrong.
- Sometimes going to a witchy store or a witch market is way more fun than purchasing brands off of Amazon. If you are able, I highly recommend you buy local. It's great to support the people in your community, you might make like-minded friends, and you can see the items in real life instead of on a computer screen. Personally, I like to get a feel for the item I'm buying. I can sense energy and everything I get always calls to me.
