Franklin Covey Compact: Week Two
Hello and welcome back! This is week two of my journey into using a Franklin Compact Planner the entire month of March 2025.
While I have run into a few small snags here and there, I would have to say that the first week was a success. While I’m not sold into moving into a compact right now, it is so cute to look at, and it’s a bit more portable for travelling.
I find a still have a lot of writing and planning to do on a daily basis, and so compact won’t be my “forever” planner (maybe not ever!), but it is fun to play around with.
Day 1: Monday, March 3, 2025:
We came back from Vancouver today. I tracked my expenses on a cut-away note today as I ran out of room on my day-on-two-pages. It wasn’t a bad thing - I’m pretty sure this is the very first time I have ever used a cutaway note page.
I was able to break my planner open on the plane. My husband was the lucky guy who got to sit beside our child on the airplane, and I sat beside this nicely quiet older gentleman. I planned out some of my day, and it was so nice to sit there in silence with a cup of coffee and just think about what I wanted to do. Moments like those, I think a lot of us take them for granted.
I’m hoping Tuesday will be a bit more of a quiet day. I will plan for tomorrow and I’ll see you guys then!
Day 2: Tuesday, March 4, 2025:
Good day! Today turned out to be a busy work day. There’s a difference for me between a hectic or a stressful work day and a busy, productive one. The latter is something I experienced today.
My task list was not overly long. I did sleep in today - my kids are slowly all getting sick, and so we all stayed home. If you have been watching me on YouTube, you will know that I’ve had laryngitis or something like it for over a month now - no other symptoms until yesterday. I started sneezing, and coughing and now I know I’m sick!
I completed my tasks in a slow but leisurely manner. They were all sit-at-desk types of tasks, and I enjoy those days. I feel accomplished when I get everything done, and the load is a lot lighter for the next day - I’m not carrying over anything from previous days.
Day 3: Wednesday, March 5, 2025:
Today was another success. I completed my work early today, and only referenced my planner when I had to cross tasks off. I wrote out my list for Thursday early as well. (I usually do this before bed, but I want the evening to relax. Tomorrow is going to be a busy day, starting with filming my weekly plan with me.

As you can see here, I started writing my dinners in the Daily tracker spot on the bottom left hand page. If you will recall from yesterday, I mentioned I felt lost because I had no where to write down my meals for the week. Well, I started writing them on the dailies, but I also remembered I had recorded this information on my hourly weekly planner. The problem is, I just don’t use it!
You can see on the right hand page, I used some washi tape from the Planner Perfect March subscription box. It’s not froggies, but it goes perfectly with the greens this month!
Day 4: Thursday, March 6, 2025
Today was a busy day and I feel like I used my planner to it’s full potential. I even took it with me to the doctors to reference some notes and dates. (Despite being com-pact, it still didn’t fit in my purse because I recently changed my bag to a side/shoulder bag that’s much smaller than I normally use).
I actually had a weird feeling about my planner today, despite that I was fully using it and being productive. I still think it’s so cute, but I just don’t feel at home in it. I don’t know if this is because I know it’s only for a month that I’m using compact, or if it’s because I already know in my heart that classic is just where my heart is.
You know when you have that feeling - you look at your planner and just fall in love each time you do? That’s not how I feel right now. I feel like one of those people who say they haven’t found planner peace yet and use tons of different planners on for size. My only consolation is knowing that this is an experiment, and I will be switching back to my beloved classic at the end of the month.
Saying all that, I did film my weekly plan with me today. I feel like it was a bit rushed because I woke up late, but I did good and I feel like I still spoke about my compact in a positive manner. I am still trying to give this little planner my best, and I’m trying to be open minded to it.
Tomorrow is another day!
Day 5: Friday, March 7, 2025
Hello! I had another busy day today, but some of my plans changed. I was supposed to take my baby for a vaccine, but they called me and cancelled it before I left. It was nice to not have to go out!
At 12:30pm, my daughter and I had a nail appointment. It was nice to have some girl time. I still had quite a long list of things on my to-do list. (See pic below).
Day 6: Saturday, March 8, 2025
It’s almost the end of the week, and I would have to say it’s been a pretty effective week, all obstacles aside. (Namely, being sick!)
I’ve been getting used to my tiny planner, and I plan on taking it out to karaoke tonight. Yes, I’m sick but a friend of mine passed away the other day and I need to sing a song for her. Music for me brings forth emotion and it’s the best way for me to mourn her. ❤️
Tomorrow is the last day of week two blog, so I’l give a short review of my week in tomorrow's entry!
Day 7: Sunday, March 9, 2025
I made it to Sunday! I posted a picture of my day to show you guys what happens during any given day. I’m sitting at 12:44pm as I’m writing this, and I thought “oh, it’s going to be an easy day, and I can focus on reading my fiction book for my reading goal”. But, alas, a bunch of plans kind of fell into my lap and now I’m just as busy today as I’ll be tomorrow.
I’ll be getting groceries today after I drop my son off at a friends party, and tomorrow, I need to pick up some more things from a different store and head to my local pharmacy for some prescriptions.
I don’t know about you, but I get a thrill when I’m using my planner to it’s full potential. I love seeing a huge list of tasks and to-do’s, even though it means I’ll be busy. It’s just another reason why I’m so glad and proud to have a planner and be part of the planner community. I love the idea of being a creative online business owner and creating inspiration for those looking for it! Productivity, motivation and effective planning skills are my forte!
As for this entire week, I completed my personal and business reflections. I feel, despite having a household of sickies and not having a full cup of energy, I did pretty darn good! I’m proud of myself for carrying through and completing my work each day as scheduled. I just LOVE crossing off tasks as I complete them. It gives me such a dopamine rush.
I hope you guys also had a productive week in your planners and feel like you made the most of your time. Remember, when you’re working towards your goals, any progress counts and should be celebrated! Don’t let yourself get bummed out if you didn’t hit your milestone! Revamp your goal, or try harder next week, but don’t give up!
We’ll see you guys next week in Week Three of my Franklin Covey Compact blog!
Cheers!
Sandra
