Last week, I shared with you my tarot and oracle deck collections. This week, I would like to show how I store them, and most importantly how I use them. Remember, there is no real "right" way - in spiritual work, intuition is largely at play here and whatever feels right to you is the "right" way.
STORAGE:

My tarot cards that I currently use are stored in a box I purchased from a store in Vancouver called Dragonspace. To read more on that, you can check out my previous blog here.
I keep this box on my altar as it's a nice little addition and keeps them safe, out of reach of my children. It's also within easy reach from where I sit at my desk, which is imperative for me to remember to use them. (Although I've finally developed a good routine for my weekly readings, so currently that's not really an issue).

My oracle cards are larger, and since I have more decks, I find it easier to keep them in the boxes they were purchased in. (I also haven't found decorative boxes that I like enough and that are the right size). Remember, tarot and oracle cards can be different sizes and it was the luck of the draw that I found a box that was perfect for my Gold Foil Tarot deck.
USE:
As I said above, there is no "right" way to use your cards. There are many different variations of spreads that people use, and you can check them out and investigate what others do, but ultimately, what works for you is what feels right. In a rush? Do a three card spread. If you have time to spare, spend time on a more elaborate spread.

My spiritual disc-bound planner
I create weekly spreads and I also write them down in my spiritual planner so I can compare week to week. I use these sheets from MyLifeMyPlans on Etsy. Here is the direct link for the sheets shown below: Simple Oracle Card Journal.

I always do my spiritual routine on Monday, along with the rest of my journaling routine. (That includes writing out weekly gratitude, weekly manifestation and weekly affirmations. I do that along with writing in my kids five year journals).
I usually pick one oracle deck I want to work with and keep it really simple - I draw one card only from my oracle deck to act as a starting off base point for my tarot reading. In a lot of cases, my oracle and tarot readings make complete sense together. (As they should if you can read the cards right and use your intuition and common sense to interpret your reading).
As for tarot, I have a specific routine that I follow - I don't know if it's for superstitious reasons or not, but it's just something that I do. First, when shuffling my deck, I shuffle a total of three times. Each time I shuffle, I cut the deck in half and flip one side so they're upside down. I used to draw every second card, but now I usually do just the first seven. If the seventh card is upside down, I draw an eighth. If the seventh card is right side up, I keep the total number to seven.
I write the cards down on my oracle journal paper and then I use the Biddy Tarot system online to find the meanings. I write down the overview, and if I want further clarification, I will read more.
That's my current system to date. As I gain more personal time into summer, I would like to change my routine. I don't know what that's going to look like yet, but I wouldn't mind using multiple oracle cards together in one reading. I currently have a condensed version for time restraints.
Let me know what works for you in your practice!
Cheers!
Sandra 💜
